Gabriel Rogier, French, "Still Life with Hazlenut and Thistle," dated August 1930, oil on 8 1/2"w x 5 1/4" panel, signed bottom left, 12"w x 9" in vintage gold-leafed frame. On the reverse side panel, the artist has hand-written a poem to a French noblewoman: "The hazelnut is exquisite and the gallant little thistle, if you take it, Marquise, quick! Put on your gloves."
