Description

Our bottles are generally six inches or less in height and contain or have contained liquor and/or liqueurs. Our hobby includes miniature straights (like the little bottles you see on the airlines), including scotch, whiskey, gin, vodka, rum, tequila, cognacs, wines, beers, and liqueurs. Miniature blown glass bottles are collected by many, and feature (but not limited to) bottles by Rynbende, Bols, and Peter Hagen. Figural bottles make up a huge part of collecting miniature bottles, and some collections are strictly these bottles, dating back to the 1930s. German and Japanese Give-a-Ways are another part of this hobby. These feature the high end Shaefer Vader German mini bottles and decanters from the late 1800s and early 1900s, as well as the mimic bottles from Japan in the late 1940s. The Midwest Miniature Bottle Collectors', known simply as the MMBC, celebrated its 25th year in 2004. It was started by a group of collectors in the Chicago area, and has grown to include members from 41 states and 15 foreign countries. The MMBC promotes the hobby of miniature bottle collecting. The annual MMBC bottle show is held in the latter part of April in St Louis Missouri. It is the largest show of its kind in the United States, with thousands of minis.
