Description

When Milton Hershey created a model town in 1903, he knew the importance of education and cultural enrichment for residents, his employees and visitors to Hershey. In addition to providing public education, he created the Hershey Indian Museum in 1933, after purchasing a collection of American Indian artifacts. A few years later he purchased a collection of Pennsylvania German artifacts, moved the museum to the Convention Hall and changed its name to the Hershey Museum of American Life. As the years passed, museum visitors began to inquire about Mr. Hershey's life and legacy. In response, the museum staff began collecting artifacts to document Hershey's rich heritage. The Hershey Story currently houses nearly 30,000 objects from these three collections. These objects are carefully stored in our state-of-the-art facility located at the museum.
