Chapter 29 JEWELRY APPRAISAL ACT
§ 1981 Short title
This act shall be known and may be cited as the Jewelry Appraisal Act.

§ 1982 Definitions
The following words and phrases when used in this act shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
"Jewelry." Includes any item made out of a precious metal, a diamond, or a precious or semiprecious stone.
"Jeweler." A person who is in the business of buying or selling items of jewelry.

§ 1983 Appraisal costs
Any jeweler who conducts appraisals of pieces of jewelry for a fee shall charge a flat rate. No jeweler may make an appraisal in which his appraisal cost or fee is based upon the value or apparent value of the item sought to be appraised.

§ 1984 Penalty
A jeweler who violates the provisions of this act commits a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $100 for the first offense and $200 for the second or any subsequent offense.
