August 30 - October 8, 2016 - The exhibition will evolve through labor performances in the gallery. In reflection of a system that hides the labor of working hands, blank, mass-produced t-shirts are stacked in reference to a retail setting, but in pre-established geometries which break down through their own accumulation. The greater the accumulation, the more dramatically the system defeats itself. Kupferer’s installation project works to “make visible the invisible within consumer systems,” reveals the hand of the maker, and comments on the “self-defeating system of accumulation” within consumer culture.
