November 19, 2016 - March 19, 2017 - This exhibition features four distinct rooms that examine key moments in the evolution of the twentieth-century domestic landscape. From Cranbrook’s formation during the Arts and Crafts movement and its pivotal role in the development of mid-century modernism in America to material explorations that birthed new types of living environments in the 1970s and formal experiments of postmodern design in the 1980s, Cranbrook Time Machine poetically transports the viewer back in history to distinct periods that radically reshaped our ideas and ideals of living.
