Harmony Korine: Shadows and Loops

November 4, 2016 - January 16, 2017 - This exhibition will contain eleven paintings by Nashville resident Harmony Korine, who is best known for films such as Kids, Gummo, Trash Humpers, and Spring Breakers. Korine is also an accomplished painter whose lyrical and dynamic images show his interest in the improvisatory spirit of outsider art, the expressiveness of distressed surfaces, and the unpredictable juxtaposition of layered and warped checkerboard patterns, which disrupt the viewers’ perceptions of the relationship between topography and space.
