Film director Jennie Livingston will present her groundbreaking 1990 documentary, Paris Is Burning. Filmed during the mid-to-late 1980s, this intimate portrait of the Harlem drag balls was a winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize. Time magazine called it “one of the most influential cultural works to come out of New York City in 40 years.” On hand for a discussion with Livingston after the screening will be Michelle Handelman, FIT associate professor of Film, Media, and Performing Arts.
