Bristle Definition
In Art, bristle generally refers to short, stiff, coarse natural or synthetic hair in the tip of a brush. They are used to apply paints and inks to a surface. The bristle brushes have a slight curve or taper that helps to paint fine lines. For natural bristle, hair from badger, ox, fitch, or squirrel is preferred. Nylon bristles are used for acrylic and polymer paints.
