Clearstory Definition

Clearstory is an architecture related term. The terms is used to refer elevated walls with a series of windows often seen in upper area of the nave of churches. This architecture may be used in any building. Clearstory is simply a wall that is raised above an adjoining room and includes a number of windows for light and air circulation. It admits light to the central part of a room. Historically, the Roman architectural buildings were designed with small windows which included less amount of light. However, architectural structures with larger windows were developed later.
