Etch Definition
The term Etch refers to the process by which acid is used to cut into a surface made usually of metal or glass. It is usually done by applying a coat of wax on the metal or glass surface to be cut and then drawing lines with the aid of a needle. Later, the acid is applied for the purpose of creating lines on the unshielded parts of the surface. Thus a pattern or design is created on the material surface by removing layers from the material’s surface.
