Galle Definition
Galle refers to Emile Galle (1846-1904), a French artist and his creations. He worked in glass, ceramics and wood. He is well known for his technical innovations in glass and is considered as one of the driving forces behind the Art Nouveau movement. His innovative technique of marquetry process where small colored glass pieces are embedded in a large piece of glass was unique for its designs. Emile Galle used "Galle" as a mark, often concealed in the design of his art work. In 1874, he founded his factory in France.
