Merrimac Pottery Definition

Thomas Nickerson founded the Merrimac Pottery in Massachusetts in 1902. The company initially made utilitarian pottery and later reproduced Roman pottery. The luster, crackle and matte of Merrimac Pottery are well known. The product line includes pitchers, vases, bowls, candleholders, jars, jardinière, humidor, urns and umbrella stands.
