Movable type, in the context of art, refers to a printing technique, where each type is cast on a separate material. The text is printed directly from the type for each character. Johannes Guttenberg is considered to be the first to make a mechanical metal movable type. The alloy of lead, tin and antimony, which Guttenberg used, remains the same for movable type even today.
