Ornament Definition
Ornament in architecture and ornate art means an adornment used to embellish parts of an erection or a piece of art. Large monumental sculpture cannot be equated with ornament. Ornament in architecture can be engraved from stone, wood or precious metals and may be enhanced with the use of enamel or glossy paints. Ornament is a major factor of decorative art. Almost all classical Roman fresco painting had this style of decorations and embellishments.
