Pearlware Definition

Pearlware is a type of pottery which is earthenware produced by Josiah Wedgwood in 1779. The pottery was first introduced in England. Pearlware earthenware has a fine glazing on its surface and is usually white I colour. This pottery looks similar to creamware potteries in colour and collectors find it difficult to differentiate booth. Only colours like green, blue and yellow were used for painting pearlware pottery materials because, only these colours can withstand the heat created while firing the glaze.
