Republic of China refers to the government on the island of Taiwan established by Chiang Kai-Shek in 1949. The traditional performing art in Republic of China, also known as Taiwan is glove puppetry. Creating dough figures is another folk art. Weaving and pottery also finds a place in Republic of China arts. The collections which General Kai-Shek took with him to Taiwan are the main attraction of National Palace Museum.
