The term rondel, in the context of architecture,  refers to a curved or circular window or panel. The circular or semicircular panel or window is usually decorated. Rondel also refers to circular metal plate used for protection as part of medieval armour. In literature, rondel is a poem having three lines each in three stanzas. A refrain succeeds first and third lines of rondel.
