Different stages of evolving of a print design by a graphic artist are referred to a state. Initially, he makes a various prints from his block, screen, or plate. The first series of impressions is referred as first state. When he revises his design and alters and makes the second series, then it is called second state and so on until the final state is produced with which he is satisfied.
