Superrealism Definition
Superrealism is also known as photorealism. It refers to an art movement which began in United States in late 1960s and early 1970s as a reaction against abstract expressionism. The artists of this movement use photographs to create paintings. The word Photorealism was coined by Louis K. Meisel coined the word photorealism and appeared for the first time in 1970 in the catalogue for the show "Twenty-two Realists."
