Surrealism Definition

Surrealism is a movement in visual art and literature which began in 1920s. André Breton is regarded as the leader of the movement. The surrealist artists were influenced by the studies of Sigmund Freud. The surrealist images are confusing and surprising. Louis Aragon, Paul Éluard and Philippe Soupault were famous surrealist poets. Giorgio de Chirico, Pablo Picasso, Francis Picabia and Marcel Duchamp were famous artists of surrealist movement.
