The third eye is a spiritual and esoteric concept. It refers to a notional invisible eye that affords perception beyond ordinary sight. The inner realms of higher consciousness are also referred as third eye. Its meaning varies according to how or what it is related. In Hinduism it refers to ajna or brow or chakra that is located around the middle of the forehead. In Theosophy it is connected to pineal gland. In New Age spirituality, a state of enlightenment or evocation of mental images as a premonition or spiritual significance is symbolized by third eye.
