Virtuoso Definition
A person who is a master in fine arts. Virtuoso also refers to a person who is skilled in the technique of a particular art. Generally, a skilled musician is termed as a virtuoso. During the 17th Century, the term ‘virtuoso’ was adopted by the English from the Italians. In Italy, the term was used either as a noun or adjective which means “virtuous” and “skilled”. In Britain, the first virtuosos were referred to as men of significant knowledge and wisdom. Later, the term was used by the English to refer persons who were mastered in art. By the 18th Century, the term was used to refer to skilled musicians.
