Adze is a primitive edge tool that is seen used right from the stone age. It has a handle with a blade set horizontally in the handle. The blade is sloped downwards. This tool is generally used in hand wood works to smoothen or carve wood. African carvers use adze in carpentry.  Windsor chair seats are molded with an adze.
