Breakfast Painting means a painting of  breakfast piece. In art, it denotes a definite category of painting known as ‘still life’ paintings that involved an arrangement of objects like flowers or kitchen utensils, placed out on a table. Breakfast painting is thus a still life painting. These paintings were also called Ontbijt. But they were generally labelled as ‘Stilleven’ in Dutch during 16th century and it is from this word the term ‘still life’ paintings was derived.
