Burnisher refers to a tool used for polishing. In copper plate printing burnisher aids in correcting the tone. It is also used to smoothen the surface. The burnisher may be made entirely of metal, or sometimes may have wooden handles. Egyptian wall paintings of 14th Century BC depicts burnisher used in burnishing pots.
