Die Definition
The term die refers to an engraved object which is used for stamping a material or impressing a design on a softer metal. Die also refers to a tool for cutting of forming a material. A die is usually in the shape of a metal block which possesses one or more holes through which materials such as plastic, metal or any other object is drawn. The term die when used in the context of architecture refers to the pedestal part between base and cornice.
