Dust Jacket Definition
Dust Jacket is the removable outer cover of a book that is used to protect the book from dust and wear and tear. They are also known as dust wrapper, dust cover, or book jackets. They were first used during the 19th century to protect delicate silk/leather papers that were used in the books of those days. Dust jackets originally appeared as plain paper wrappers and were designed to cover the book completely. However, later on decorative dust jackets with printed wordings and images came to be used.
