Flag is a piece of cloth, usually rectangular used as an emblem or symbol. Flag generally have distinct colors and designs. The national flag of a country is a political as well as a patriotic symbol. In the context of art, Flag refers to an encaustic painting by Jasper Johns, an American artist. Encaustic, oil paint and news print collages on three separate canvases are used in the work and it is mounted on a plywood board. The painting depicts the US flag in 1954 with 13 stripes and 48 stars.
