Fresco refers to the technique of painting on a wet plaster using pigments dissolved in water. When the plaster is set, the painting becomes an integral part of the ceiling or wall. Fresco is sometimes made on dry plaster also fresco secco. Fresco gained popularity in Italian paintings during Renaissance. Fresco was usually created on walls or ceilings.
