Han Definition
Han refers to the Chinese dynasty which reigned from 206 BC to A.D. 220. It stood reputed for its unification and expansion of its national territory and for the promotion of arts and literature. Painting in paper, silk weaving, pottery and jade carving were the notable achievements of the period. The tomb sculpture of the Han period had lifelike figurines made of clay. The funerary wares included models of houses and humans. The period witnessed perfection in lacquer work also.
