Icons are statues of Jesus, Mary or saints carved in wood, stone or precious metals. Icons can be engraved in mosaics or even in cloth. These revered pictures are either Russian or Byzantine. All religious statutes imprinted or engraved on hard metals or other solids may be categorized as icons.
