Kohl is an eye cosmetic to darken the rims of the eyelids. It is a black powder, usually antimony sulphide or lead sulphide. Kohl as an eye make-up was much prevalent in Eastern countries from historical times. Sometimes, it was considered to ward off evil eye or to protect the eye.
