Nyctalopia Definition
Nyctalopia comes from the Latin term 'nyctalops' and refers to night blindness. It is derived from 'nyktalops', a Greek term formed by merging Greek word for night with words for blind and eye. Since 17th century, English speakers use Nyctalopia to refer to the diminished ability to see during night or in dim light. Since 18th century they started using 'night blindness'.
