Opaline Definition
The word opaline means forms of opaque and coloured glass. They are generally multiple coloured and has matte surface which are often gilded or painted. Opaline glass is decorative glass made in France during 1800s. These translucent or opaque glasses appear in shades like white, green, blue, pink, black, lavender and yellow. Due to high lead content in the glass it is called as demi-crystal or semi-crystal. Opaline glass was influenced by Venetian milk glass of 16th century and English white glass.
