Open Edition Definition
Open edition literally means an unlimited set of prints or an unlimited number of copies of an art work. It is the opposite of limited edition. Any art work, from paintings to sculptures can be reproduced in limited or open editions. This term is generally used in relation to print making. An open edition does not have a limit on its run. With the advances in technology, an art work can be printed in thousands or millions of times retaining its original quality. An open edition print is not as costly as the limited edition and it is not numbered. A not so famous artist can choose to go for open edition.
