The term 'parallel' is normally used to refer to two or more straight lines that run in the same direction.  They run parallel and do not intersect. These lines never meet. We can see artistic illustrations using parallel horizontal or vertical lines. Parallel art is also created using different shapes (squares, rectangles) and patterns (zigzag) that are arranged parallel to each other.
