Pontil is an iron rod which is hollow used to gather smelted glass for blowing. It is also called punty. Pontil mark is a blemish where the punt got cracked from blown glass. Glass bottle blown with freehand has the presence of scar. But glass made by mold blown will not have the scar. Punt scar can be also be made artificially to bring the glass a natural look.
