Quadro Riportato Definition
The term Quadro Riportato means transported painting. It is the Italian phrase for ‘carried picture’. It refers to the form of a wall painting for a ceiling design in which a painted scene created in a panel resembles to a composition on the surface of a shallow curved vault. It also describes gold-framed easel paintings or framed paintings that can be seen in a normal perspective and painted into a fresco. The plural form of Quadro Riportato is quadri riportati.
