Release Agent Definition
A release agent is that element that is used for releasing the casting from mold. This prevents the cast from sticking on to the surface of the model. Artworks made from molds and models tend to adhere to the model due to chemical reaction. Sticking of mold may damage the structure and figure of cast. Releasing agents are those chemicals that prevents such reactions and help in getting the cast in the desired shape. Releasing agents are usually used in tire release, adhesive release, plastic release, and die-cast release. Releasing agents are also called a separator or a parting compound.
