Rifling means the coiled trenches that is made inside the barrel of a rifle. This can be seen if this grooves are cut into two pieces. The presence of helical grooves serves a spin which helps in increasing the steadiness of the bullet for accuracy. It is the twist rate that describes rifling. A short distance gives fast twist and increases the velocity.
