Glassware resembling tortoiseshell is known as tortoiseshell glass. These types of glassware were made in 1800s. The Sandwich Glass Works of Massachusetts and some firms in Germany used to produce this glassware. Many of the artifacts seen today are reproductions from the late 19th century.
