Transcendentalism is a philosophy where one can transcend experience to achieve a higher realm of awareness. The word is also used to refer a socio-philosophical movement that sprouted in New England in reaction to rationalistic approach. Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau were the men whose propaganda was influenced by romanticism, Platonism and Kantian philosophy.
