Action research refers to disciplined research carried out by educational practitioners on the basis of collaborative inquiry. These process followed by them include examining practices, applying the interventions, and assessing the results. This leads to improvements for the benefit of students as well as practitioners. This is simply known as “learning by doing.” Action research has various synonyms like practitioner research, action science, teacher research, site-based research, and emancipator praxis.
