Retraction is an act of withdrawing a statement said or wrote by a person earlier. In the context of antiques, the term retraction may refer to retracting from a bid. Uniform Commercial Code § 2-328 allows a bidder to “retract his bid until the auctioneer’s announcement of completion of the sale, but a bidder’s retraction does not revive any previous bid.”
