Analytic Cubism Definition
The term refers to the first or the initial Cubism phase, from around 1907 to 1912. Picasso and Braque were the leading analytic cubists. This phase favored geometric shapes and the use of monochromatic colors in art work. Paintings made during this period depicted analysis or breaking down of form. Straight line and right-angle constructions were commonly seen in the painings created during this period.
