Cardo Definition
Cardo is the name of a colonnaded-style street in the Old City of Jerusalem. It is an impressive street in the Jewish Quarter and was discovered after 1967 archaeological excavations. The street intersects the decumanus in right angles. The original stones paving the street date back the Byzantine Period. In addition to being an archaeological remnant, the street is lined with Judaica, souvenirs, galleries, and shops. This makes Cardo a main tourist attraction.
