Cards Definition
The term cards, in the context of antiques, may refer to a different type of cards that were in use during the ancient times. For example, trade cards or advertising cards, playing cards, baseball cards, etc. Deck of playing cards in use during the 17th and 18th century are available in the antique market. During the 19th century, colored cards displaying pictures of flowers, children, animals, or anything that related to a company were given to the public as promotional cards. These attracted the people because colored pictures/photographs were rare during that period. People began to collect and store them in albums. Such cards are of high antique value now.
