Centering Definition
Centering is a term connoting wide range of meanings. In ceramics and pottery, centering is the technique of controlling the position of clay so that the clay moves into a symmetrical rotating axis in the center of the potter’s wheel. When used in the context of architecture, centering refers to the supporting frame that is used to support an arch or dome during construction. Generally, wooden frameworks are used for support. The term is also seen used in digital imaging. In this context, it means positioning an image correctly within the digitized field of vision, in order to frame it appropriately.
