Choice Definition
The word ‘choice’ literally means the method of selecting or choosing between possibilities. In relation to antiques, it is a method of selling auctioneers use with identical items that are offered in “variable” lot. The bidders compete by placing their bids and the bidder who places the highest bid gets control. The highest bidder who gets in control has the “choice” or option to select a piece from the lot for the higher bid amount. Such bidder also gets the choice to select more pieces from the lot by payment of the higher bid for each such individual piece chosen. The remaining pieces in the lot will be available to the other bidders only after the highest bidder has chosen his pieces from the lot.
